What We Want: Property of the Week - Los Altos Hills

It's What We Want Wednesday and we're going a little more modern than usual with this contemporary beauty in Los Altos Hills. This 10,000+ square foot masterpiece is a work of art by Robert Swatt of the renowned Swatt Miers Architect team and overlooks the Bay, East Bay mountains, and all of Silicon Valley.

Situated on a 1.24 acre lot, this home boasts 5 bedrooms, 6 full bathrooms, 3 half baths, 4 fireplaces and a four car garage.  With the location in Los Altos Hills, the home is close to Stanford University and ideally situated between both San Francisco and San Jose International Airports.

A long private drive (featuring an electric gate) leads you to the home built of laser-measured Machiche wood (Brazilian hardwood), stucco and glass.

The front door opens to 24-foot ceilings with seamless interior spaces.  The home features three levels, with master suites on both the ground and upper levels, and a lower level designed for entertaining.

The great room is jaw-dropping. Featuring a mostly white kitchen and living area, with dark hardwoods and kitchen cabinets encased in white frames. An island large enough to seat four with marble on all kitchen surfaces (including both the floor and the waterfall on the island). The kitchen backsplash travels from cabinet to ceiling and the features the top-of-the line appliances you would expect in this space.

One of our favorite things about the kitchen is how the architects treated the appliances. Refrigerators are hidden behind panels that match all cabinet fronts and the only thing you see on the wall is the wine refrigerator and ovens.

The living area of the great room is equally as stunning.  Featuring a fireplace and walls of glass that recess into the walls when not closed, this space was designed to enjoy the views and really make the most of the outside space.

All bedrooms are spacious and both masters feature the same walls of glass that slide back into the walls to hide away when not in use.  Both masters also feature large outside decks.

The home features six full and three half baths, all different but equally beautiful spaces.

But where this home really shines is outside.  The pool has clean lines and fits perfectly with the house.

The landscape architect kept everything simple and clean as well.  Dark mulch surrounds greenery of different height, width, and color.  It's a truly simple space that oozes sophistication.

Back inside, the lower level basement is another great space for entertaining.  Featuring a smaller kitchen, entertainment area, wine cellar, and gym, this is a space you and your friends will enjoy.

This home is listed by David Kelsey with Coldwell Banker and is on the market for a little over $18M.  The home website and video tour may be found here.
